Coming back to Exercise after Co-vid

Some people tried to stay active during Co-vid and some let the isolation get to them. As things start to open up again, there is more resources for exercise such as group classes (indoor and outdoor), pools for swimming, open gyms, and outside courts, not to mention personal trainers who have stayed strong during the pandemic though going virtual.

1. Be patient with yourself

Some of you may want to jump right in and go hard like you used to but this could be a bad idea that could lead to injury and more time off which is the last thing we need! Staft off slow with something that is gentle on the body like a long walk, gently job, light weightlifting, a pilates class, or some simple bodyweight exercise like squats and pushups are great to get your body moving again if you haven't. If you were very fit before, you may want to go all in all the way, but your body needs to adapt so be patient with yourself.

2. Know your options

There are so many ways to be active and now thanks to Co-vid there are even more like virtual and outdoor options. Do some research because there is a modality for everyone depending on what you like and what your lifestyle permits. If you are busy mom, then doing a virtual class at home may be the answer for you. If you like working out in a community, then there are plenty of classes and now even more with outdoor options. Personal trainers are also helpful. No matter what you do, it has to be fun for you so you can stick to it!

3. Hire a trainer

I'm not just saying that because I am one. Personal trainers asses your body and create individualized workouts just for you and can meet with you multiple times a wekk and may even provide workouts when they are not present like I do so you can continue being active even when they are not there. It can be intimidating going to a gym again for many reasons like embarrassment or not feeling completely safe even with higher vaccination rates.

Hopefully the Co-vid pandemic is coming to a close leaving us to not live in fear anymore and our lives to go back to normal. This can cause some anxiety since we have been isolated for so long. So take it slow but I hope you move your body because your body will love you back for it. Co-vid tried to take us down but we are getting and have gotten through it showing it who's boss.
